A year ago, I attended Mom 2.0 and had the pleasure of learning in great detail the focus of Dove’s Real Beauty campaign and crusade to help young girls feel empowered as they grow into young women. From a marketer’s perspective, I have to say they nailed it. Their videos, social media efforts and images were authentic and thought-provoking. You have a forever fan in me!
This spring, the company raised the bar again with their conversations around #RealDadMoments. While a slew of research has surfaced around the importance of dads and their involvement in their kids’ lives, I was most inspired by Dove’s approach to share the “real” images and stories of dads today.
I am blessed beyond blessed to have an amazing dad who is always prepared to talk me down from my “worry cliff,” make me laugh and now be “Super Papa” to his three grandkids. Thanks Dad!
I also share my own parenting journey with an awesome man. We are true partners and I brag about him all of the time since I really do think he is a “Super Dad.”
So in the spirit of Dove’s campaign, here are a few of my own images and stories of these two special dads in my life.
“Real Dads” go the distance, from strapping on the baby carrier in the earliest days to being your biggest supporter as you age.
“Real Dads” respect the Moms. They treat them with love, show their boys how to care for a woman and their girls how they should expect to be treated.
“Real Dads” embrace adventure. They want to show you the world, have fun, and dare you to push the boundaries.
“Real Dads” get goofy. They dance, tell silly stories, tickle, push the limits.
“Real Dads” share a drink with their kids – whether it be a tea party, slushy or adult beverage.
“Real Dads” teach you about the importance of family, relationships, being there for one another.
“Real Dads” will do anything for you – even ride the ferris wheel when they might be kind of sort of afraid of heights. They go on the ride for you, because they want to show fears can be conquered.
Bottom line – “Real Dads” love you.
Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there, especially my two favorites.
You rock! Love you!
