As you’re celebrating motherhood this weekend, take a few moments to kick your feet up, enjoy a drink and pat yourself on the back for all you do. Moms work hard – damn hard – every single day. Sure, there are nights we hit our pillows in sheer exhaustion (every night), but parenting brings joy.
Kay Warren, wife to the popular Christian pastor Rick Warren writes …
We tend to think that life comes in hills and valleys. In reality, it’s much more like train tracks. Every day of your life, wonderful, good things happen that bring pleasure and contentment and beauty to you. At the exact same time, painful things happen to you or those you love that disappoint you, hurt you, and fill you with sorrow. These two tracks — both joy and sorrow — run parallel to each other every single moment of your life.
So motherhood brings happiness, sadness, frustration, anticipation … joy.
Some might argue Mother’s Day is just one more holiday created by the greeting card companies to get us to spend and consume. Perhaps. But moms deserve a day – more than a day – to receive some special attention and thanks.
So Happy Mother’s Day, and to give you even more reason to smile at the magnitude of moms, check out this cool infographic below. We kind of rock. Just saying!
